Takeouts From the ICB Summit, 2023
Two weeks ago we were excited to take part in the ICB Summit, 2023. “The ICB Australian Bookkeepers Summit events are well known for their commitment to ongoing education, professional development and providing the practical application of business and bookkeeping knowledge and skills to make a positive difference, placing a professional bookkeeper as the expert in the middle of the noise” (ICB).
Billie, LK Accounting’s Bookkeeper and Accounts Manager has shared her insights and experience from the Summit below.
“Participating in this summit provided me the opportunity to network and develop my understanding of the bookkeeping industry. The development of technology within the bookkeeping industry is an ever present subject and the summit provided me with an understanding of these changes and the benefits of them.”
Billie further shared two major take outs from the Summit:
Development of Artificial Intelligence software in the bookkeeping industry. Discussing the ways to embrace the change in the industry and the benefits of AI software for businesses. For me, the demonstration and explanation of the new AI technology and its benefits was game changing. From this presentation, I believe over the next 5-10 years we will see this technology have a massive effect on our roles as Bookkeepers.
The importance of the mentor, coach and supervisor relationship within the Bookkeeping industry. Within an aging profession the ICB concentrated on the importance of developing younger professionals with their quest in becoming BAS Agents. Currently ICB is developing a program that will connect individuals seeking this information and assistance in the future.
Having the opportunity to participate in events like this, especially when face to face is an honour, and we can’t wait to be able to expand our networks, see familiar faces and learn more about the bookkeeping industry by participating in even more events like this throughout the year and beyond.
